Gonzo Moose Theatre are looking to recruit an experienced Technical Stage Manager to work with us on a tour of our production, Is That A Bolt In Your Neck?. We’re looking for someone who is self-motivated, has confidence in being responsible for Technical Stage Management on tour, and works well in a team with confidence and humour.
ABOUT IS THAT A BOLT IN YOUR NECK?
Is That A Bolt In Your Neck? is a high-energy comedy horror, packed full of slapstick, verbal wit and magical illusion. It is a three person show (two male, one female).
This production will premiere at The Pound Arts Centre, Corsham on 14th October. It will then tour around the UK for 7 weeks between 18th October - 3rd December before a three week run at The Drum Theatre in Theatre Royal Plymouth from 6th to 24th December. Venues will include village halls, arts centres and theatres.

ABOUT GONZO MOOSE
Over the last 20 years, Gonzo Moose has become renowned for its accessible brand of stage comedy which combines improvisation, music, physical theatre and clowning. The company, founded by Artistic Director Mark Dawson and Paschale Straiton, has always had a focus on creating innovative and visually exciting stage comedy. Inspired by the slapstick greats, Gonzo Moose always bring the house down with audiences of all ages and the team delight in spoofing genres, mashing up traditional tales and generally being silly.
SCOPE OF WORK
The engagement would be for 11 weeks between 10th October and 24th December 2022. This will include:
Tech Rehearsals : 10th - 15th October: tech, preview and opening at The Pound Arts, Corsham
Tour : 18th October - 3rd December : Small/mid scale tour featuring village halls, arts centres and theatres
Christmas Run : 6th - 24th December : Evening performances at The Drum Theatre at Theatre Royal Plymouth.

FEE
We will pay a weekly rate of £494. The Technical Stage Manager will be contracted and paid as a freelancer and therefore responsible for all associated taxes due to HMRC.
Total fee: £5,434.
Gonzo Moose will provide accommodation, cover travel expenses and pay per diems. There is also an additional payment of £250 per week to cover accommodation and living expenses during the three week at The Drum.
KEY DELIVERABLES
The Technical Stage Manager will be leading the technical stage management of the tour, including get-ins and get-outs, and operating LX and sound for each performance.
They will work closely with the Project Manager, Mark Conway and the Creative team.
Preparation
-
To liaise with the Project Manager regarding all production set up for the show and to take on all responsibilities as required

To liaise with the tour venues regarding Company requirements. This will include for each venue:

agreeing access times to the venue
-
confirming get-in logistics i.e. van parking, access routes to theatre spaces
-
requesting information about the venue facilities
-
On Tour - supported by the project manager
-
To manage and lead the get-ins and get-outs at each location
-
To operate lighting LX and video/sound for all performances, leading sound checks at each venue
-
To be the lead contact on tour on behalf of Gonzo Moose, representing and advocating for the company at each venue and supporting the performers as required, including issuing show calls

To share driving with the performers to transport equipment and set where required
-
To give any other reasonable support to the company in preparation for, and during, the tour as required.
WHO WE’RE LOOKING FOR
A person who has:
-
Technical Stage Management experience of rural touring, studio and mid scale touring
-
Experience relighting shows on tour in different venues
-
High level of experience with Qlab
-
Confidence in using EOS and ETC Nomad lighting systems
-
Experience of managing get-ins / technical sessions
-
Confidence in communicating with venues and in collaboration with PM to confirm technical drawings and schedules in advance
-
Ability to be flexible and adapt to the needs of the tour
-
Strong ability to remain calm under pressure

Excellent communication skills
-
Excellent organisational skills and attention to detail
-
Clean driving licence and ability to drive a van
Ideally, the person will be based in Bristol or London.
